WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike
(Los Angeles, CA) – It looks like the Hollywood writer’s strike is nearing its end. After the Writers Guild of America went on strike in May, a tentative deal has been reached 146-days later. The union announced it had reached an agreement with the major Hollywood studios as of this weekend.
Now, union members will have to vote in order to finalize the agreement. Meanwhile, actors with SAG-AFTRA remain on strike in their search for a new deal with Hollywood studios. The WGA says its agreement, “was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings.” Writers, and actors, have been pushing for more protection against being replaced by Artificial Intelligence, in addition to more compensation.
