(New York, NY) – The MTA is offering free bus rides along five New York City bus routes — based on things like ridership and fare evasion. This includes the M-116 in Upper Manhattan, the BX-18 in the Bronx, B-60 in Brooklyn, S46/96 on Staten Island and Q-4 in Queens.
It’s a pilot program that will operate for at least six months. The MTA says the move is rooted in helping provide equity to disadvantaged communities. Unfortunately for straphangers and commuter rail customers, no MTA trains or subways are being included in the program.
