(New York, NY) — NBC News is reporting that federal prosecutors are investigating whether an admitted felon offered up gold bars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez or his wife, in hopes of getting help with some federal charges he was facing. Sources tell NBC that New Jersey developer, Fred Daibes was facing federal bank fraud charges at the time he allegedly offered up the gold bars to Menendez. Prosecutors want to know if the alleged bribe was in return for the Senator contacting Justice Department on his behalf.
