(Queens, NY) – Two people are dead following a wrong-way crash on the Whitestone Expressway. Cops say a driver behind the wheel of a Honda Pilot entered the Queens expressway and drove northbound within the southbound lanes. It was around 2:15 AM Thursday morning when the Pilot collided with a Honda HRV — near College Point Boulevard. The HRV’s 45-year-old pilot was killed. A 25-year-old man who had been inside the Pilot died as well. Two people that were inside the Pilot have been hospitalized — a 35-year-old woman who’s considered critical, and a 26-year-old man listed as stable. Both are being treated at New York-Presbyterian Queens.
News helicopters showed crews working the scene in an attempt to clear the accident and get traffic moving again, as officials closed the Whitestone Expressway for a time afterward.
