LaGuardia, pepper spray
(Queens, NY) – The FAA is investigating after a New York City bound flight had to be diverted to Florida, after a passenger allegedly fired off pepper spray inside the plane’s cabin. This happened on Sunday night, the American Airlines flight had left Miami and was set to land at LaGuardia Airport. The Boeing 737 was forced to divert to Jacksonville International Airport.
American Airlines says the incident unfolded after a “disruptive incident involving a customer.” The aircraft was eventually cleaned and then continued on to New York City without any further issue. Pepper spray can be packed in checked luggage, but isn’t allowed as a carry-on item, per the TSA.
