Long Island Serial Killings
(Long Island, NY) — Yet another body has been identified by Gilgo Beach Investigators.
Labeled “Jane Doe 7,” 34-year-old Karen Vergata went missing back in 1996. Her body was identified by Suffolk County authorities, announced in a press conference last Friday. The confirmation was thanks to a swab collected from one of her relatives that matched the DNA of her profile created back in August of 2022.
The former escort’s remains were scattered in different areas. Vergata’s legs were found at Davis Park almost 20 years ago in a plastic bag and her skull was found in Nassau County— the rest of her body was never found.
Vergata was never reported missing.
Investigators plan to collect more of the murder suspect’s DNA, in an effort to link Rex Heuermann to more bodies.
