(Smithtown, NY) — A toddler is dead after being left in a hot car on Long Island for eight hours on Monday. Suffolk County police say the little girl’s grandmother forgot to drop her granddaughter off at her day care center, and only realized what she had done at the end of her work day. EMTs rushed the girl to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Last night there was a vigil for little Chyasia Evans, who was just 14 months old. So far, no criminal charges have been filed against the grandmother.
