CRISIS AVERTED: The Show Must Go On

(New York, NY) —  A Broadway shutdown may have just been averted.

This morning the union representing theater workers were debating a possible Broadway shut down, but  the strike will likely not happen  after IATSE ( International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) reached a tentative deal this morning. The Broadway League says Disney Theatrical and IATSE are now waiting for the so-called “Pink Contract” to be ratified by the bargaining unit.

The strike would have impacted about 15-hundred stage hands, hair and make-up artists and wardrobe personnel, effectively shuttering 28 of the 30 shows currently on Broadway. Workers were fighting for better pay and rest periods.

It comes as WGA writers have been on the picket line for more than two months with SAG-AFTRA actors joining them just weeks ago.
