(New York, NY) –The MTA has some big ticket items on it’s agenda this week.  On Monday, a committee will begin discussing a bus, subway and train fare hike. In May, the transit authority put forward a 15 cent increase in subway fares. Riders have not been hit with a fare hike since 2015. Tickets would also cost more on Metro North. A vote on the proposed fare increases will likely take place on Wednesday. If they are approved, the fare hike would kick in around Labor Day.

Congestion pricing will be on the agenda for a MTA committee meeting on Wednesday. In June, the Federal Highway Administration approved the MTA’s toll plan to charge drivers who go below 60th Street in Manhattan.  The tolls could bring in one billion dollars a year. Money that would be used for MTA infastructure projects.
