New York , NY — The U.S. attorney wants to take over Riker’s Island.
The New York Times reporting that federal prosecutor Damian Williams will seek a court-appointed receiver to address the conditions on Riker’s Island.
In a statement Williams says “Riker’s has been in a crisis for years — a collective failure, and after eight years of trying every tool in the tool kit, we cannot wait any longer for substantial progress to materialize”
The move if successful, would strip Mayor Adams of control over Riker’s Island.
