News: Writers Guild pickets streaming studios
(Los Angeles, CA) –Hollywood’s major film and television studios are hoping to stop an actors strike that could begin today. The actors union, SAG-AFTRA says they were in last minute talks to avoid the walk out of 160,000 union members. The union says it’s actors should get more of the profits from their shows that are on streaming services. If actors walk, they would join around 11,000 members of the Writers Guild of America who went on strike in May. The writers also want higher compensation for their shows that appear on streaming services.
