(New York, NY) – Former Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray say they’re separating – but don’t plan to divorce. In an interview with the New York Times, the couple explains this was a mutual decision that resulted from a conversation asking each other why they weren’t “lovey dovey” any more. They wed back in 1994 after meeting while both worked for the Mayor Dinkins’ administration.
De Blasio says the strain of his eight years as mayor contributed to their growing apart. The pair plans to keep living together in their Park Slope, Brooklyn townhouse. They also plan to start dating other people – McCray jokingly told the New York Times to publish her number, while de Blasio shared he plans to snap a new photo at the gym for a dating website profile.
