Fourth of July in New York, Macy’s
(New York, NY) – Tonight over 60,000 shells and effects will be launched from barges on the East River as part of the annual Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show. Designated viewing areas will be set up with cops on patrol in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The barges will be anchored between East 25th and East 42nd Street.
Organizers say over 70% of the fireworks are new designs. One includes a combo of red, white, and blue shells that will form an over half-mile-long American flag. It’s a 25 minute show, kicking off at 9:25 PM.
Music will be played to accompany the fireworks. Tina Turner will be one theme following her recent passing. Before the fireworks, performances are planned from The Roots, Bebe Rexha, and Ja Rule.
