Taco Tuesday
(New York, NY) – The Taco Tuesday war continues on this Monday, June 26. A court filing from Friday shows Taco John’s is firing back at Mexican fast food behemoth Taco Bell. The Wyoming-headquartered Taco John’s specifically denies there is anything “not cool” about owning the trademark on the phrase “Taco Tuesday”.
Although Taco John’s has held the trademark since 1989, Taco Bell wants it canceled. Taco John’s official legal response from last week maintains the petition to cancel the trademark contains mostly “statements of opinion to which no response is required, including that Tuesday is a mediocre day of the week.” The smaller taco chain also says just because the phrase is “fun to say,” that doesn’t mean there is a legal basis for the trademark’s cancellation.
