(New York, NY) – New York City is establishing the Asylum Application Help Center to help newly arrived migrants as they fill out paperwork and asylum applications. This is in partnership with several law firms that are providing services pro-bono, including Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, as well as Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and others.

Tens of thousands of migrants have arrived in New York City over the past 12 months, with many of them formally seeking asylum status. City Hall has also established a migrant welcome center at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown. The Asylum Application Help Center will have attorneys on site as well as interpreters, so as to provide in person assistance. Any migrants who have already arrived are also encouraged to visit.
