(Teaneck, NJ) — It is a sad day for the FDNY. Firefighter Mark Batista, who drowned at the Jersey shore last week while saving his daughter from a rip current, will be laid to rest. His daughter was rescued. The 39-year-old Batista served as both an EMT and firefighter for the FDNY, stationed at Engine Company 226 in Downtown Brooklyn.
