(New York, NY) — A vending machine set up in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn has no snacks or candy, instead it’s filled with Naloxone and fentanyl test strips all available for free. New York City Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan says the vending machine was placed in Ocean Hill because drug overdoses are a huge problem in the neighborhood. The city plans to set up at least three more vending machines in other neighborhoods with high overdose numbers In 2021, the city had a record 2,668 overdose deaths.
