(Washington, DC) — The Senate passed a bill Thursday night that would suspend the nation’s debt ceiling for two more years. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says the final vote came after 11 amendments were considered, and then shot down. Republican Staten Island Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis says the bill passed is solid. It cuts federal spending, sets spending limits, and puts in place stricter work requirements for food stamps.
