(New York, NJ) – Authorities have arrested a Virginia man in the shooting death of 30-year-old New Jersey councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour. It was back on February 1 when Dwumfour, a Newark native, was fatally stuck while sitting inside her car, outside her Sayreville apartment. She’d been elected to the town council in 2021.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone says an extensive investigation looked at cell phone tower records, cell phone data, and EZ Pass records. That led them to Rashid Bynum, who was arrested Tuesday morning in Chesapeake City, Virginia. It appears the pair may be connected via a church Dwumfour was involved in, as he was listed in her cell phone contacts as such. Bynum is now awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
