(New York, NY) – Negotiations have resulted in a tentative contract agreement between Mount Sinai Health System and doctors at Elmhurst Hospital, after the physicians at the Queens hospital went on strike earlier this week. It marked the first doctor strike in New York City in over 30 years.
The doctors were expected to go on a five-day strike after hitting the picket line at 7 AM Monday morning. Now, they’re expected back on the job Thursday morning. Physicians had argued they’re underpaid, noting their non-unionized counterparts at Mt. Sinai’s main campus in Manhattan receive $7,000 more annually.
