Art Professor Loses Job After Threatening Reporter

(New York, NY) – It’s been a bad week for Shellyne Rodriguez, who ultimately lost her job as an art professor at Hunter College. The situation all kicked off earlier this month, when Rodriguez was caught on video confronting a group of pro-life students on campus.

The video appears to show her yelling at the students for being “triggering” and setting up their booth, which she called an act of “violence.” Rodriguez can then be seen knocking materials off of a table the pro-life students had set up.

Afterwards, a New York Post reporter sought out Rodriguez for comment, and visited her apartment. In a video caught by a Post photographer, Rodriguez then held a machete to the reporter’s throat and allegedly threatened him. That incident ultimately led to her termination from Hunter College, per a spokesperson who provided The Post with information.

Hunter College’s Vince Dimiceli says “(The school) strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action. Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach.”
