(New York, NY) – After he completed a virtual appearance today in front of a Manhattan judge, former President Trump’s trial date has been set in the alleged “hush money” payments case. After pleading not guilty to charges of falsified business records, Trump’s trial will begin March 25 of next year. That means the trial will begin around six to seven months shy of the 2024 presidential election. By then, Trump could be the Republican nominee for president.
Prosecutors allege Trump falsified business records by classifying a payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels as “legal expenses.” The Manhattan District Attorney’s office seems to think that violated state campaign finance laws, even though state and federal prosecutors declined to bring charges.
