(Lindenhurst, NY) — Teachers at Lindenhurst Middle School on Long Island will start searching backpacks today, after a 12-year-old student was stabbed by a classmate in the hallway there on Monday. Parents says the stabbing is unnerving and they want better protection for their kids . The school district says Monday’s stabbing was an isolated incident. However, parents say school officials have failed to address fights and bullying. The student stabbed is in stable condition. The stabber is likely to face charges.
