(New York, NY) – The man accused of murdering an off-duty NYPD officer is being held without bail after appearing in front of a judge in Brooklyn. Cops packed the courtroom as 38-year-old Randy Jones was led in, having been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Adeed Fayaz. On Saturday night, Jones allegedly shot Fayaz in the head during a botched robbery. The pair had arranged for Fayaz to buy a car from Jones through Facebook marketplace. Jones and an alleged accomplice could be linked to similar robberies.
Investigators caught up with Jones at a hotel this week in Nanuet and he was charged yesterday. Fayaz was taken off life support the same day, and his body will be flown to his native Pakistan.
