Intern Dean Pavlou – Carlos Correa Headed to Mets in Blockbuster

phil-masturzo-usa-today-network-7

After the Giants postponed their press conference with Carlos Correa on Tuesday afternoon, everyone wondered what was going on. After hearing that news, the Mets wasted no time calling Correa’s agent Scott Boras shortly after. Steve Cohen then proceeded to negotiate a deal that was finalized very early on Wednesday morning of 12 years for $315 million. This shocked the baseball world and was the cherry on top of what was already a stellar off-season for the Mets.

The Mets finished with 101 wins last year but fell short of the NL East crown after the Braves went on a tear and swept them in the second to last series of the year. Cohen is looking to make sure that doesn’t happen again and will not let anyone stop him from spending. Many people including myself now believe that the Mets are the team to beat in the National League and it just became clearer as to why, with the signing of two time all-star Carlos Correa. With Francisco Lindor at shortstop Correa will move over to third base which is a position he has never played before. I don’t think this will be a problem for Correa however because of his strong arm and great reflexes that is needed to play the hot corner. Keep an eye on the Mets next year to be atop the NL next year.
