BROOKLYN, N.Y. (77WABC) —  Police say 28-year-old Sundance Oliver, a light skinned black man considered “armed and highly dangerous” according to NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell, turned himself into police in the 77th Precinct in Brooklyn this morning.

Police say Oliver is suspected in three shootings two of them fatal.

The Commissioner held a press conference in Brooklyn this morning as the search for Oliver was ongoing. You can view a video of the NYPD Press Conference here.

The first shooting occurred at 9:30 am Monday in Brooklyn. Police say Oliver attempted to rob a woman and fired a shot which struck a 96-year-old man. The Commissioner said the man is in stable condition at a hospital.

At 2:40 pm Monday, Oliver is suspected of shooting  a man on the 6th floor of St. James Place in Lower Manhattan’s 5th Precinct. The man died at a hospital.

In the 3rd shooting the Commissioner says  a woman was shot at Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Houses and died at a hospital at 12:45 Tuesday morning.

Sewell said units from the NYPD’s police patrol, special operations, housing, transit, and detective bureaus   canvassed the city for Oliver.

Oliver has a dozen prior arrests. He was released from state prison in Seneca County in 2020.

New charges have not yet been announced.
