NY: Annual Lighting Of The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
NEW YORK (77WABC) — The holiday season is officially underway now that the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has been lit.
Thousands gathered in the heart of New York City on Wednesday night to witness the spectacle. The Norway Spruce is dressed with more than 50-thousand LED lights on five miles of wire and topped with a nine-hundred pound Swarovski crystal star.
Once the season ends, the tree will be taken down and milled into lumber that will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
