NEW YORK (77WABC) — A 78-year-old man was beaten after asking a male passenger on a moving southbound #1 train approaching the 96th street station Thursday afternoon to lower the volume of music he was playing.
Police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at the 96 Street and 7 Avenue subway station Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
The 78-year-old man was punched multiple times in his face by the man he asked to lower the volume and by a woman who was with him.
The victim was taken by EMS to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital, in stable condition for bruising and lacerations to his face.
The two suspects stayed on the train and are believed to have exited at the 34 Street subway station.
Police say the man they are looking for is approximately 6’0″ tall, weighs 185 lbs., and has an athletic build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a graphic on the front, a red bandana, gray jeans, a multi-colored backpack and white Nike sneakers. The woman he was with has a dark complexion, medium build, long brown hair with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with a fur lining, a black t-shirt, orange sweatpants, black sneakers and wearing black glasses.

There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
