  1. I miss you Bernie. My day is not complete without hearing your wise words. You left us too soon. Rest in Peace friend. Condolences to your family 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸

  2. Bernine was a true patriot and a proud American, we lost a good one. God bless ya Bernie, and my deepest condolences to Sid and the whole WABC family.

  3. So sorry for your loss. My Dad listens to you guys every day and has been a Bernie fan since Imus in the morning. Will never forget Bernie. Keep your head up

  4. Loved to hear Bernie’s bits. The drive to work in the morning flew by knowing he was on the radio. He will be missed and he is in my prayers

  5. Peace and love my brother! May his memory always be a blessing!

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”

  6. I love Bernie and Sid like brothers. Bernie will be missed by everyone. My deepest condolences to his wife and children. God must have loved him a lot to take him from us so early in his life. Rest in peace, brother.

  7. I listened to Imus when he came to WABC only because of Bernie. He was talented, humble and kind. I looked forward to hearing his voice every morning. I will never forget the First Week of Bernie & Sid. I couldn’t believe how great they were together and how much greater it became. That show got me through Covid, how they arrived to do their job battling the subways and the homeless, making us laugh through it and giving us hope. I missed Bernie even before he passed away, the calming voice of reason with a dose of humor. Sid has gone through every possible human emotion with Bernie on air & Sid will help us grieve our loss of this irreplaceable talent. God Bless Bernie’s family and friends during this difficult time. PEACE!

  8. RIP Bernie. I grew up with you as being the same age as you, from Imus to Bernie and Side. I grew up in the Bronx, near your old neighborhood. I felt you conveyed the same thoughts I have in my mind.
An Irish saying, "I must accept his death, but, that does not mean I will ever get over it." In heaven, God received a great guy.

  9. Bernie made me laugh, but he also made me think. He was truly gifted. We are all so lucky and blessed that he shared that gift with us ever day.

  10. Rest In Peace Bernie as “ life is changed- not ended – in Our Risen Lord🙏🏻 Prayers for Carol and children.

  11. Bernie. I have never met you. Listened every morning. Feel like i’ve lost a friend. May the peace of Christ be with you and you’re family. All my love! Sid, stay strong!

  12. I have been listening to Bernie from back in the Imus days and had the pleasure to meet him at a Mark Levin book signing at The Book Review in Huntington L.I. I introduced myself and my wife to him. He was a class act and even though he was leaving, he stopped and talked to us like he knew us for years. One of my favorite people and one of the smartest I ever listened to. RIP Bernie, and condolences to his family.

  13. Bernie Thank You for being the voice along with Sid while commuting to work especially through the pandemic. You made those stressful days bearable like a friend saying you got this, relax, it’s going to be ok.
You will always be missed for many years to come and you were taken too soon from us!
Heart felt condolences to your wife, children and WABC.

  15. Bernard’s sense of humor and intelligence kept me entertained for many years. When I finally got to meet him at a WABC event a few years ago, I told him how much I admired him. He was always a gentleman and an all-around good guy. I’m heartbroken by this news, but we are all better off having been exposed to Bernard’s talent, wit, and wisdom. We love you, Bernie!

  16. Good bye Bernie. One of the funniest intellectuals to have ever been in broadcasting! A good man! We will miss him terribly.

“Good morning & God bless” as the Cardinal used to say.

My deepest sympathy to Carol & family.

  17. Bernie you were an amazing all around person. You are already missed but the legacy you left will never be forgotten. My condolences go out to your family as well as the WABC family. Rest easy Bernie!

  20. Bernie was a legend is his own right along with Imus and Rush. Gone way before his time he will be deeply missed, he was an inspiration. I hope they do a book about him. The Life & Times of Bernie Mac the Truth and nothing but the truth. Tell everything. RIP my Bronx Brother. Eric from the Boogie Down Bronx. I miss you.

  22. My condolences to the McGuirk family and coworkers. I live in Illinois and listen Bernie and Sid every morning. Bernie will be missed. Rest In Peace.

    1. RIP Bernie, I looked forward every morning to hear your voice . You had a way to spin the news that made me think deeper or crack up with your humor! Thanks for giving your listeners your play list which I thoroughly enjoyed.

  23. My condolences to the McGuirk family as well as his coworkers. I live in Illinois and listen Bernie and Sid every morning. Bernie will be missed. Rest In Peace.

  24. When my brother and I lived in Boston back in the early 2000s, we loved going to see Imus at the WTKK St. Patty’s events. Bernie always stole the show with his quick wit and brutal Cardinal. I remember his early radio tryouts subbing for Jay Severin in 2003 when he advised against the Iraq war. One of many times when he found himself ahead of everyone else. But most of all, I respected how humble and unassuming he could be despite every reason there was for him not to be. Bernie was just beginning to realize his hard earned success and was taken from us far too soon.I will miss how he could get me out of bed on a bad day. But I know that others will miss him much more, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues, as they mourn his loss. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, it’s Bernie at peace we all want the most! Lord hear our prayer!

  25. To Carol, Brendan, Melanie and the rest of Bernie’s family and friends, my condolences. I had started listening to Imus when he first came to NY when I was in high school, and when Bernie joined the show, was still listening. He gave me so many laughs over the years for which I will be eternally grateful. He really gave Imus "the business" and together, along with Charles and Lou, were a perfect team. I retired to NH in 2012 and have only sporadically caught Bernie and Sid’s show, so was unaware that Bernie was so ill. The world is a darker place without him. May the wind be at your back Bernie, and may God hold you in the palm of His hand. 🍀

  26. Bernie, we lost you too soon- you made us laugh back with Imus and entertained us with your talent, wit, humor, insight and kindness everyday with Sid. I was born in the Bronx, raised Irish/Catholic on Long Island, so your family stories were always special to me. Condolences to your family, and to everyone at WABC.

  27. I so wanted to play "Beat Bernie" and I wanted to say to him, "I know I can’t beat you, Bernie and cancer can’t either." I was wrong. Cancer stole him from us just when we needed him most. I missed Bernie these last months, I missed him when he and the I-man were fired, and I will miss him tomorrow and tomorrow. Bernie started my day for well over 30 years. My heart aches for Carol, Brendan, Melanie and his Dad who he loved so dearly and for Sid who has been so strong and somehow kept the show going everyday. Thank you, Bernie for your humor, your insight, your courage, and your patriotism. There will never be another one like you. Rest in peace, Bernard Mcguirk. Gone too soon.

  28. My condolences to the McGuirk family. Bernie was one bright guy and one of a kind. Loved listening to Bernie every weekday for years. Such a huge loss. He will be missed and will be in my prayers. God bless and Rest In Peace Bernie!❤️‍🩹

  29. The Close Friend I Never Met
When I first heard that Bernie McGuirk had passed away, I felt a shock and sadness that I thought was only for close family members. When my wife phoned a short time later to tell me the sad news, I was overcome and couldn’t speak as the tears came down my face.
I first heard Imus in the 1970’s. I had my first car which came only with an AM radio. I became a fan. When Bernie came aboard in the 1980’s, soon I realized I was listening to Imus to hear Bernard McGuirk. I realized that if Imus was Jackie Gleason then Bernard was Art Carney. He was the one who made you laugh and the one who made you think.
The tough guy from the Bronx Projects who was as smart and witty as he was tough. When Imus left, I thought there would be a void in my mornings, but with Bernie & Sid that void was quickly filled. Imus was good, Bernie & Sid were better. He will be missed because he will be irreplaceable. I pray for him and Sid every day now and wish Sid all the best. He will succeed if he remembers to say "What would Bernie do?"

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
    Irish Prayer
Rest in peace my close friend.

  30. My husband and I listened to Imus in the morning for years. When the radio show was televised, we did both, depending on our morning schedules. I heard Bernie do the cardinal many times, but when he put that FedEx envelope on his head to do the cardinal, and now we saw this, we just cracked up and that is one of my most favorite memories of Bernie, other than his patience with Don Imus.

  31. Bernie we loved listening to you in the morning . You were so humble, intelligent and so refreshing . I never met you but my heart broke when I heard you passed away. Like others have said, I have never been so upset about a death of a person I never met. But listening to
You on the radio gave us the chance to know the real and true Bernie. My heart breaks for your wife— Carol and your kids. Your life was cut way too short. I hope we can still hear your voice on WABC in some way. You really were so insightful . May God Bless you and Syd too.

  32. As a nurse, and knowing the advanced stage of Mr. McQuirk’s prostate cancer, when he became absent from the show I knew that we were about to lose him. I heard the news of his passing while driving to work and was deeply saddened. I never met Mr. McQuirk but I did share my mornings with him on the radio. Listening to him banter with Sid, and to his conversations with callers I came to understand that he was a genuine, intelligent, thoughtful, and caring human being. His life was well spent. He made a positive impact on his family, his co-workers, especially Sid Rosenberg, and his listeners. I offer my deepest condolences to those close to Mr. McQuirk. To Bernie, I say, job well done sir, and thank you.

  33. My husband who passed away recently always listened to Bernie, his favorite and our car radio always on Bernie’s station. He was always along wherever we went. I miss my husband and will now miss Bernie’s voice which brought me comfort. You were loved and will be missed. Condolences and prayers for family.

  34. I am so sad that we have lost Bernie. I listened to him for years and admired him greatly. He was a good and honorable man, the kind of person we are sorely in need of especially now. I trusted whatever he said completely and really feel at a loss now as to who to believe and trust. I don’t cry often but I did last Thursday when I heard that he was gone. He leaves a giant void in our world and I will miss him terribly.

  35. God bless you Bernie may you rest in arms of God,may your heaven be as green and beautiful as Ireland
