  1. I am devastated I have loved Bernie & Sid every since my husband turned me on to the show a few years ago and every morning like clockwork I have to put the show on. No matter what I faithfully listen and just loved when Bernie would come on "beat Bernie" I was amazed at the knowledge Bernie had and how resourceful he was he had an amazing brain. I am so upset today crying episodes remembering him and Sid and then when Sid came on I was a mess I could not believe what I was hearing I really did not want to believe it . My heart is broken in a million pieces right now we lost one of the most amazing men in this world a true patriot a true American and a hero in every sense of the word Bernard Mcguirk you will be missed you will NEVER be Forgotten you will always have a place in my heart and my family’s heart you were amazing and touched us all may you R.I.P. may GOD bless your family I am so sorry .

  2. Love you Bernie,
You and Sid made my mornings, whether in the car or in the office or at home.

    Rest In Peace Brother!

  3. So very sad you are gone. I learned so much during the BEAT BERNIE segments. Thank you for always starting my day off with a smile. Your journey home is complete. God Bless you and comfort your family. 🌹

  4. I was so very very sad when I heard about Bernie’s passing. I have been listening to him since his days with Imus. I always felt he was a major player who was a major contributor to the success of that program. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie probably 30 years ago when his WFAN basketball team played my brother’s team as a fund raiser in Westchester. He could not have been nicer and spent as much time as necessary to talk to all his fans. I was so impressed with how smart he was in such a wide range of topics, particularly about the US presidents. I knew that if there was a question about a president on “beat Bernie” he would definitely get it right. I listened to him for over 30 years to start my mornings. I feel as if I have lost a good friend. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Carol, children and family. Bernie will forever remain in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you and know that even though Bernie is gone, he has favorably and positivity influenced and impacted millions of people and brought smiles to our faces and brightened our days!

  5. My sincere condolences to the McGuirk family and to Bernie’s WABC “family”.

I can honestly say I can’t recall a time when I felt such profound sadness for the passing of a public figure as I felt upon hearing of Bernie’s passing when I tuned in to The Bernie and Sid show, Thursday morning.

I have known of Bernie from his earliest days with Imus in the early 90s. Like most of us, I quickly became a huge fan of his. I’ve witnessed his blossoming over the years as he’s become an influential radio (and television) personality – and, with Sid – the #1 radio morning show in the toughest market in the business.

We will all miss his wit, his passionate defense of the republic we all grew up to love and his unequaled knowledge of politics and history. Most of all – we will just miss him.

“Until we meet again. May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.”

  6. "Bernie reads a lot of books, it’s time to beat Bernie…" I will miss that song and Bernie’s daily contests.

    1. This one really hurts….…
During tough times in my life Bernie simply helped as I listened to Imus radio. Boy, was he funny with all his impressions and so very eloquent. I once laughed so hard while driving I had an accident. Go Bernie! He is a true South Bronx legend and we Latinos love him for his support of our community. I’ve never commented on social media but for Bernie – yeah he’s the man. I can’t think of Bernie without Sid. Sid you’ve grown so much since the early days with Imus. Know we all care n pray for you as well bro as you mourn your “brother” and lot of people pray for you – you’re becoming the voice of many! To Carol and family – much love and support during these tough times. God has us and will ensure that all pain now will turn to joy later or in eternity! Thus, our hope.
      Luv u bro (Bernie)

    2. Sorry for your suffering and loss. I listened since the Imus days. Glad you achieved the level of success you deserved. I will miss you but have some consolation in the fact that you are now at peace and with the Lord.

  7. "Bernie reads a lot of books, it’s time to beat Bernie…" I will miss that song and Bernie’s daily contests.

Bernie is carrying on his talk show superstar duties up in heaven with Jesus and the Saints. Thank you for keeping me company Bernie, loved you on the radio. I miss you buddy!

Sincere condolences to Bernie’s family and all his friends and co-workers.

  8. My condolences to the McGuirk family as well as his coworkers. He will be missed by many but will remain in our hearts and thoughts.

  9. I will miss listening to you in the background on my computer as I do my daily
routine. You were someone I respected your opinions and I echoed your support
    for Pres. Trump.
May your family be comforted by having known you.

  10. A Stand Up guy… big police supporter and one tough Irish kid.
A pleasure to have known him via radio
    RIP

  11. Bernie was a national treasure. He was a genius. He’s as irreplaceable as Mount Rushmore.
He will always be loved and he will never be forgotten. God Speed Bernie.

    1. I absolutely agree. I loved the “beat Bernie” segments.
The show had a magical balance and I am so sorry for syd and Bernie’s family.
      Kathy

    2. Prayers go out to Bernie’s family. Bernie, thank you for the laughter and insight. You’re on top as you should be. Miss you.

    3. Prayers go out to Bernie’s family, friends and co-workers. Bernie, thank you for the laughter and insight. You’re on top as you should be. Miss you.

  12. I listened to Bernie everyday on my drive to work–from the Imus Days to the Bernie & Sid Show. He kept me company. I will miss him–terrible loss. My condolences to the family & Sid. May the gates of Heaven be open for Bernie. RIP.

  13. RIP Bernie – I never met you, but I feel that I lost a dear friend. My deepest sympathies to your wife and children.

  14. I’m so sad that Bernie wasn’t able to beat his cancer. My mornings will not be the same. I’ve been listening since the Imus days. Bernie was the best on Imus, so funny, Charles McCord was also good, the two could really give it to Imus. My heart goes out to Sid and all of the staff. Prayers for Bernie’s family.

  15. Hello
I’m so sorry for the passing of Bernie.
He was a rare talent and a good man. I started my day with him.
Going way back with Imus and Bernie and Sid show.
    He will be missed.
    May he rest in peace.
    Amen
    Chris

  16. I first heard Bernie back in the Imus days. Bernie started a producer and quickly became part of the show. Words can’t describe how funny Bernie was is his overall banter with Imus, Charles McCord, Lou Ruffino and the rest of the characters!!
At ABC he brought the same energy to the Bernie and Sid show and helped make that a radio success.
My condolences to Carol and his children.

  17. Thanks for the entertaining moments
Started my day off listening to you on the way to work
    Rest In Peace

  18. Sad, just so sad.
I will miss your wit, love of God, family and country.
Rest in Jesus arms as we grieve for your family and friends.

  19. I don’t even know where to begin…. I was a little girl, driving with my dad, and all I wanted to do was listen to music! My dad had Imus on every morning, it was SO annoying! This was my first taste of Bernie, and his quick wit!

They say you turn into your parents sooner or later….flash forward 20 years later, and here I am, tuning into Bernie and Sid EVERY morning! You guys would always say, you have no young female listeners, well I was one!!! As so many of us do, I love every moment of the show. I feel like you guys are family. I would pray for Bernie every night. I am just rambling at this point, but may god bless Bernie, his beautiful family, and Sid. You guys were so blessed to have each other.

Bernie lives on in ALL of us, he touched SO many lives, on so many different levels. I hope you all remember that, and find some comfort in it.

    All our love, god bless.

  20. Bernie – you are missed already – especially your wit and how you stood up for the Irish.
    Rest in peace!

  21. May God bless Bernie and his family and bring them peace. I looked forward everyday to listening to Sid and Bernie during my drive into work. Bernie made me a bit wiser everyday!….couldn’t "beat" the very intelligent Bernie"!

  22. There are no words but inter-feelings to describe the loss of Bernie. He was the true definition of "The fighting Irish". He fought with dignity, strength and humor. I’ve listened to him for years and I made him a part of my radio family as I’m sure others have done so too even though I’ve never met him. I hope Mr. Cats will leave Bernie’s name on the morning show as well as keeping the advertisements with Bernie’s voice. We all still need to hear his voice. Nothing can be said to his family to ease the pain of losing Bernie but knowing how many people loved him should touch their hearts! Miss you Bernie-Fly with the Angels!!

  23. Bernie had so much more to give to us. His family needs to know that,
he was truly one of the all-time greats. Grant-Rush-Bernie
I never met or spoke to him. So, why am I so sad? I listened to him for years I knew there was more he wanted to give us
Once he was fully set loose with Sid and the Katz radio family we were able to hear the full Bernie experience.
His incredible talent was there for the world to finally see. Then suddenly we were denied the experience that we knew, was coming.
That! Is why I am so so sad. In my 66 years I have never been so moved by the
loss of someone that I never met. His family and friends need to know that we Bernie fans feel that they are some of the luckiest people to walk the planet. Thank you for sharing Him with us. His vacancy will live with me for the rest of my time on the Earth.
    R.I.P. Bernie

  24. My very best to the family and friends of Bernie. I’m from North Carolina; I have no idea how I discovered the Imus show but Bernie was my clear favorite personality. He just seemed like a genuine guy. He always spoke fondly and affectionately, and most importantly, respectfully of his family especially his wife Carol. He never used her as a prop for show material. He was clearly a thoughtful man and very well, and apparently mostly self-educated (which is the best method) in terms of both scholarship and the school of hard knocks. The world is undoubtedly worse off without him and lets admit that we can’t say that about a lot of people. He was a man; he had a healthy mind and soul. He and God are going to get along just fine. Peace!

  25. I’ve only been a fan from April 2020. I have listened to Bernie & Sid every weekday morning since. Bernie educated me on many political topics. His mellow, calm way of talking made it a pleasure to listen to. I’m going to miss “Beat Bernie” segment with his jingle “Bernie reads a lot of books”. I wish I had started listening to him many years earlier. May you Rest In Peace, May your family, and your Red Apple Family also find peace.

  26. Dear Bernie . God bless you and yours. They say “ only the good die young .” Your actions on this earth definitely put you in this category. Thank you for you being you !!!!!

  27. Like everyone else, I knew that Bernie was very sick but I just always believed that he would beat this.
I was totally blindsided by the news of his passing. Been listening since way back in the Imus days and he felt like an old friend. Sidney, listening to you get chocked up on air broke my heart and made me cry like a baby, hang in there bro.
Love and condolences from us here in Charlotte to everyone in Bernie’s family and the whole WABC crew.

  28. Bernie was a unique radio personality- there were few limits when he had something to say- but always on it negative or positive. This is a tragedy for him, his family, and his friends on air and off. Wishing his family comfort, though hard now. Hopefully in time. Bernard will always be in the conversation.

  29. I have an idea as to how fans can honor Bernie: if WABC were to produce car/fridge magnets with a little shamrock in the corner (maybe proceeds to T2T.) So when stuck in traffic, you know if you’re behind a fellow fan!

Bernie and Sid had an amazing show with a wide reach. We’ll never forget where we were when we heard the incredibly sad news.

Rest in peace with the angels, Bernie, you were beloved!
    PEACE!

  30. God bless your wife and family & friends.

You are with Him in heavenly places! No pain or suffering any more!
    Rest peacefully friend.

Your legacy will always be remembered, which means you will always be remembered. We all must just try our best and get through this crazy thing called life. Rest in Peace. Jim

  32. I started listening to Bernie back in the "I-Man" days. He was one of us.
My deepest sympathies to his wife Carol, his children and his father.

    From the Irish lineage:
    “Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away to the next room.

I am I and you are you.

Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.

Put no difference into your tone.

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

    Laugh as we always laughed

at the little jokes, we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effect.

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.

It is the same that it ever was.

    There is absolute unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

  33. My condolences to the WABC family and Bernie’s family, I have listened to talk show since the 80’s. Bernie you will be missed and may your soul be at peace for eternity. Amen

  34. I’m so very sad you are gone. Deepest sympathy to your family and loved ones. I’ve listened to you for ages and always looked forward to hearing you on the radio. Loved Beat Bernie. Will miss you so much.

  35. Bernie, I’ve been listening to you since the 80’s and always you’ve brought a smile to my face. When you spoke, I listened, contemplated and learned.

May you rest in eternal peace with our Savior, Jesus Christ, and may HE bring peace and comfort to your loving family.

    Rest in peace dear Warrior.

  36. Sorry to hear about Bernie’s death. My wife and I used to watch the Imus program religiously and Bernie was perfect with the I -Man. I am retired from the Air Force and my wife and I really enjoyed Bernie, Sid et al on Imus in the Morning. May he rest in peace.

  37. Bernie the epitome of a “BIC,”BRONX IRISH CATHOLIC!
A BIC WAS A PERSON WHO WAS RAISED IN THE ROMAN CATHILIC FAITH AND PRACTICED THEIR RELIGION, RAISED BY WORKING CLASS PARENTS IN SMALL APARTMENTS OR MODEST HOUSES IN NEIGHBORHOODS THAT WENT FROM LOW TO LOWER MIDDLE CLASS.;WITH RESPECT FOR GOD,COUNTRY, PARENTS AND TEACHERS.AS A
RESULT OF THAT FOUNDATION THOSE BICS BECAME SUPERSTARS AND THAT WAS BERNIE MCGUIRK WHO BERNIE WAS A BIC! RIP. MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU.

    TEACHERS THE BICs LIVED

  38. Condolence to Carol, Brendan, and Melanie. Dearest sympathies to Sid and Lou. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie at a Bernie & Sid lunch. He took the time out to speak to us in depth and gave us a radio shout out the next day. His humor, intelligence, and street smarts was second to none. May his lasting legacy forever be remembered at WABC. Good morning and God bless!

  39. It is with great sadness we bid you Farewell
Being raised a Christian we are taught that we are only passing thru bodily on this earth and that our true spirit lives on in all the lives we’ve touched . As you enter through the heavenly gates I’m sure you’ll be welcomed with open arms.Rest in Peace my friend And Thank You for sharing your God given gifts…Go Raibh Suaimhneas Siorai Air

  40. RIP Bernie, it was a very sad day for me (yesterday morning 10/6/2022) to hear about your passing. Thank you for your brilliance on the radio, you’ll be truly missed by millions!

  41. Very sad to see Bernie leave us. Bernie was a great guy,a smart level-headed man with a phenomenal sense of humor and quick wit. Bernard, you were my favorite of all the talents on the Imus program. How many times I absolutely cracked up when you did one of YOUR skits or when you just threw in a comment in the middle of some conversation going on in the program.
You are one of the rare people that I can say,I love, without ever having met.
To Carol,Brendan, Melanie and Bernie’s other offspring, living in the Bronx; I’m so sorry for your pain. Most all of us have to experience such pain in this life.

    1. Bernie was a Christian mentor to his family,Sid , staff and thousands of listeners . Well done good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. We who know Jesus will see him again , and soon! RIP

  42. Listen to Bernie and Sid for a while now, and I was always informed and entertained. RIP Bernie. Deepest sympathies to his loved ones.
