What a loss Bernie it was a relief to hear you guys in the morning after I got off the 12×8 shift as a Nypd Sgt in the South Bronx. Thank you for support over the years and god bless your wife and children as the deal with this loss. Sid hold your head up high man , its tough but Bernie would want you to celebrate him as I know you will. God Bless
Words can’t describe the heavy heart I feel for the McGuirk family, Sid and the WABC family. We lost a great man, spirit and soul. I feel like we all lost our favorite uncle.
I am reminded of an old Irish saying for times like this.
May the sunshine warm upon your face. May the rains fall upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
You will be immensely missed, Bernard. Rest In Peace, Sir.
You Will be missed ! Enjoyed SO MUCH listening to you !
My Deepest sympathy to the family
I still cannot accept that Bernie is gone.
I have prayed so many rosaries for him the past few months and convinced myself he was going to pull through this. I am heartbroken. My prayers go out to Carol, Brendan and Melanie and his entire extended family. He loved them so much.
A trusted, caring, loving and funny voice to start our day. Bernie was truly one of a kind and an inspiration to all. We are devastated to here the news about your passing.
You will be very, very missed by all your listeners.
My heartfelt condolences to your family and friends.
I’m shocked I thought he was doing fine..sad day ..God bless you Bernie.
My husband and I listened to "The Imus in the Morning" show and loved Bernie among others. We, as lay people, saw the meaness of Mr. Imus which may have been due to his age. We felt sorry for those who had to endure, and Bernie was such a kind-hearted member of the cast.
We also listened religiously to "The Bernie and Sid" show and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Bernie. The one word that Bernie owned and will always own is "RESPECT!" We do not hold many in high respect, but Bernie was #1 in this house. I will miss Bernie. My husband died last year so sadness has been a constant visitor!
Devastated to hear this news. I will miss hearing your voice every morning. Sending prayers and my deepest condolences to your family and WABC. Heaven just gained an angel.
When I heard Bernie speak for the first time, many months ago, I was astonished at this quiet man’s voice speaking so brilliantly and succinctly it just was breathtaking to me. I listened carefully & regularly after that just to hear his gentlemanly voice and quiet, modest but oh so very wise comments & thought this is a KING of a man. God is with the great Bernard McGirk
Bernie,
So smart
So steady
So funny
When it was time for “ best Bernie” I stopped everything to learn from Bernie!
There’s never been anyone comparable !
RIP
Bernie had gotten me so interested in history that I started reading history books. His wide range of knowledge made me feel like I was in a casual classroom setting.I will miss that and so many other facets of Bernie. RIP Bernie you enriched my Life every morning .GOD has a Wonderful Man🇺🇸❤️
RIP. Bernie. You were an inspiration
Your the man Bernie , I listen to you for years love you.
Sid and Bernie are the first people in the morning to say good morning to me. They are that important. Bernie will truly be missed. God Bless you my friend.

Man, I LOVE this guy’s story. Is there a better modern story of a guy’s rise from the street to the top? I’m a book guy, and the way Bernie brought great books to our attention reached me every time. He was a brilliant, self-taught intellect in the great American tradition. He had the rare and priceless media gift of making you or me feel like you know him. Even if he never knew you, upon meeting, he’d start by respecting you, yes? He’s a humor factory, a self-deprecating good-sense-maker. All good energy to Bernie and his family.
I feel like I’ve lost a dear friend. Never met him but never missed a chance to listen to his lightning wit and laugh out loud comic turns Ave Atque Vale Bernie Hope you’re already in front of a mic on the other side
God rest your precious soul Bernie. I hope and pray you are in perfect peace now. You were a joy to listen to each morning, along with Sid. You truly were a kind, intelligent and compassionate human being, and your loved ones, friends and fans will miss you greatly, no doubt.
Condolences to Mrs. McGuirk and family. . . also thinking of Bernie’s Dad. God Bless you all.
Always in all ways you are my inspiration. Bernie, your intelligence, wit, and humbleness, filled my mornings with laughter, and awe of you. Thank you for making my life happier. Your courage to fight is beyond measure. You are no longer in pain which is a tiny bit of conselation. Prayers to Carol, Melanie, Brendon, Bernie’s dad and Bernie’s 2 doggies! The beach near your house will miss your feet dancing out to swim in the waves. You have gone from the air waves to the Angel Waves. You have been my favorite! Tried to beat you on Beat Bernie, and you won! I told you how much as a human being you meant to me, and you said "I made your year"! No, Bernie you made my year, year after year! Thank you for gracing my life. You are the brightest star shining down from Heaven! 🌌🌟Now you can be with your mom, and sister! Godspeed, Bernie! You are the best! As you would say today, Thursday is Friday eve. So on this Friday Eve know I send my love, and prayers to you. You are no longer suffering, and are soaring with the Angels! You have made, and your memories will continue to make this world a happier, better place. Simply the Best, that is you, Bernie! RIP BRAVE BERNIE! ❤🙏💖🕊 Thank you, Gallant Soul! ❤
We are all so sad to hear that this dreaded day has arrived. Bernie was half of the amazing team that got us through covid lockdowns and so much other bad stuff without our going nuts and we actually laughed about stuff. Bernie will always have a place in our hearts. And based on his impression of his Dad I am sure I must’ve been on his BX#12 bus that I would take to and from Columbus HS. To Carol, kids, Dad: our deepest sympathy and love.
Loved Bernie from both the Imus show and the Bernie and Sid show. A voice of reason. Mornings will not be the same. Prayers to the whole family.
Living in California I adjusted my work schedule to be the first to work in my office that allowed me to listen to the morning show with headphones on, God Bless him, his family and of course Sid.
Bernie has been a part of my life since he first started with Imus. Thank God for giving Bernie the opportunity to hone his craft; sharing his special talent on loan from God. He was and is the GOAT. God Bless his family and all those that had the opportunity to share Bernie. Godspeed
I enjoyed listening to Bernie for many years in his role as producer, character and co-host. My prayers are with his family. I know the pain and suffering Bernie endured and he was the epitamy of strength. God Bless him and I hope he has reunited with Imus to make God laugh.
So bad, so sad. Loved Bernie,s Schtick from the Imus days through to Bernie and Sid. Condolences to Sid who I know is heartbroken. Listened to WABC every morning, still do. We have lost a fine man, a great talent. He espoused common sense politics, so absent nowadays.
Miss you Bernie. AL (Vancouver Canada).
I am so very sad to learn of Bernie’s passing and how he must have suffered. I loved him on Imus for years as I commuted from work to home. I will never forget Bernie’s wit and wisdom.
My sincere condolences go out to Bernie’s family. You were all so fortunate to have him in your lives.
I absolutely loved listening to Bernie. I have been missing him since he has been off air. He was so genuine and smart and humble. My days will not be the same without him. I’m so sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

First, condolences to Bernie’s family on the loss of their beloved one.
I will miss the most important part of the morning show–the one who spoke the English language well, read a lot, knew so much and yet, was the essence of humility.
Bernie, rest in eternal peace.
To the McGuirk Family, Bernie’s co workers and friends,
I offer my most sincere condolences and sympathies to you all. All of us listeners will miss his voice on the airwaves. Prayers to all of you
When I heard the news today I just sat at the kitchen table and cried. Ever since Imus I have loved Bernie. I’m so sorry for his family this is a tremendous loss. I’m also grateful for the years I was able to listen to Bernie. He was one of a kind and we will miss him forever.

My condolences to Mr. McGuirk’s family and friends. You may have not agreed with everything he had to say but he was the smartest person in the room. He was a very smart, funny and genuine person. I am sure I speak for many people out there in saying he will be missed.
when driving to work this mornig such a sad ride loved listening to Bernie and Sid and I know Sid will keep his voice alive for all of us Rest in Peace my firend you were great, Jim from White Plains orifinally Yonkers
Oh what a loss. For years I listened to Bernie making my mornings with so much laughter from telling the Imus and the phone booth story to our beloved Cardinal
Rest n Peace Bernie, no more pain and suffering for you just the light of Gods face
To Sid and Lou (Louie) Ruffino know that Bernie is in a better place and has no more pain
So sad and such a loss
For Carol and his children my deepest
sympathy
Bernie you will live in our hearts forever
‘Which doesn’t belong and why?’, the Cardinal with Imus was the funniest routine I have ever heard. Now that Bernie joins Imus in the great beyond, the jokes and laughter will be heard from here. As a director under Imus, Bernie was always on pins and needles but Imus’s hard ways stayed with Bernie and continued with Bernie and Sid show making it the great show that it was. Will that continue now? My bet is that it will continue even without Bernie. But he will never be forgotten. A great voice now silenced too soon.
We’ve been listening to Bernie since his IMUS days..Always a gentleman with intelligence and wit
Blessings to his family and rest well Bernie you will be missed
My sincerest condolences to Carol and children on the loss of our dear Bernie. I will so miss his keen observations of people famous and not so famous! His wit and NY sense of humor was right up there with The great George Carlin IMHO. I grew up at the same time, in the same part of Yonkers as Bernie—even rented a place in the Hamptons when he met Carol. We were probably in Ed’s Bay Pub together on any given Sat. Nite back then! I feel blessed to have spoken w him on air a couple of times as he was def. my brother from another mother.
Prayers for all the WABC family. He will absolutely be missed by us faithful Bernie fans from Imus right up to today.
It was a honor listening to Bernie all these years, condolences to his whole family ❤️🩹
I feel like I lost a uncle and am only a listener. I wish Sid the best in the future with the show and every time he see’s a rainbow 🌈 that Bernie looking down over him and smiling, Rest in please Bernie
R.I.P. To my fellow Hayes man Bernie McGuirk. You and Imus made morning drive a pleasure. God Bless your family, and May God Bless You in heaven.
