At a loss for words. Like losing a family member. Rest in peace.
words can not describe the loss to the world
I am so privileged to have been a huge fan of you these past years – became a nearby neighbor in long beach just regretting not to have seen you on the boardwalk or at jimmy hays – wished i had – you will forever be a voice in the past / present and future – sympathies to carol and your children – blessed to have you in their lives as we all have been – RIP you two legged bag of *** bejesus – lol
I thank Bernie for sharing his life with me. I am WABC radio listener, and Bernie along with Syd, got me thru the terrible times of Covid. That they went to the studio each day, seeing west 34th street being looted and the rest of our city being screwed, gave me strength to not recoil, and not to accept this terrible situation, and to spread the word to save our city.
"Bernie Reads a lot of books" was a fighter and had such a kind heart. Now, what happens to all of his knowledge and strength and love that he shared with us all? I say lets keep Bernie alive by immolating and striving to be like Bernie, and make him proud. AND Please Check your prostate gentleman. Bernie would want that.
My deepest condolences to Bernies family, his WABC family, and us, his listener family. God Bless Bernie and us all. PEACE and Love
I was devastated to hear the news this morning that Bernie did not pull through. An insurmountable loss to the entire WABC family and the stations listeners. I will always remember the morning show I have come to love dearly, beginning in March of 2020 when I found this wonderful station and the people that are part of it. I NEVER miss a day of the brilliant programming and will never forget the impact you had on me personally. God bless you Bernie, and your family. Love you man, and you take care up there.
We live in the Albany area and our family listens to Bernie and Sid every day. We listened to Bernie teach Sid every day about why he should support Trump, until Sid did! Bernie has been and will continue to be missed. He will be remembered for his great intelligence and humor. Rest in peace Bernie. Our family will miss you but will find strength in continuing to listen to Sid. He will still need your wisdom, just in another form. Prayers of strength and healing for his wife Carol and his two children.
The news of Bernie’s passing hit me hard. Bernie and Sid are part of my morning routine and something I looked forward to every morning. Bernie will be dearly missed. God bless him. My deepest condolences to his family and to the WABC radio family.
Each morning I listened to Imus loving when Bernie would pipe in then in recent years I would sign on at 6 for your show Sid & hoping these last few months to hear your intro that ‘Bernie is back!’ But it wasn’t to be. I’m so very sad for your whole team but especially for you & Lou.
Thank you Bernard for always making me laugh from the Imus days to your guest spots on The Factor to present time and, more importantly to think about what is really important in this life.
We were lucky to have Bernie in our lives. My sincere condolences to those closest to him. 💔
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
So very sad to hear of the passing of Bernie. My sincere condolences to his family for their loss. Upon hearing the news this morning, I cried and continue to become teary-eyed whenever his colleagues speak of him today. I didn’t know him but Bernie was like the head of a great big (radio) family, bringing us all together for some laughter and a lot of intelligent, common sense commentary, especially during these insane times.
I will miss his company while getting ready for work everyday. May he rest in peace.
You will be missed. Rest in peace 🙏
I am so sad to hear this news. I knew that Bernard was fighting this but has no idea how dire it was. My deepest condolences to his family. I listened to him for many years and will miss him greatly
My late partner so loved Bernie, they’d attended the same high school, and before my partner died of cancer also, he’d light up whenever Bernie came on the radio. I just loved Bernie and Cid show and I’ll so sad we’ve lost this sweet, wonderful man. May God take and comfort him!
So sorry to hear of the passing of Bernie….My thoughts and prayers 🙏are with his wife and children….Bernie will be missed. Rest In Peace our friend…You are Now Free…..PEACE
RIP Bernie, you have fought the illness like no other, you are now in a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are for your family and for Sid your best friend. Will miss you! We enjoyed listening to Bernie on Imus in the Morning and almost everyday we listen to Bernie and Sid in the morning. We listen on internet radio in Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 We love you guys, Martin and Nora
Real sad 2 hear, started listening a few years ago though not regularly thought show was informative and funny, learn that McGuirk was a native of the Bronx and grew up in the projects, think he had a real sense/understanding of the (New York) city. Condolences to his family and friends.
RIP Bernie! I’ll miss waking up to your voice of reason in the morning!
Bernie you will be missed more than you would ever know, not only were you very smart you were funny and I liked your political position. I’m sure you’re Mom was there waiting for you with open arms.
Never meet Bernie but I had tears this morning when I heard the news. Will miss him very much.
🙏🏻MAY HE REST IN PEACE🙏🏻
Mornings will never be the same, heartbroken in Virginia, god bless him and his wife and kids.
This is from one kid from the Bx. to another. I have been listening to your voice from day one on the Imus show, you made us all laugh every day, thank you!
Even though we never met, I always felt we were friends.
Best wishes to Carol and your children. You will be missed.
Rest In Peace my friend of 30 + years .
Thank you Bernie for starting my mornings off with a smile and each day a little smarter because of you. May God comfort your family. You will be missed tremendously.
R.I.P Bernie
I listened to Bernie and Sid in the morning for the past several years. Woke up to them every weekday. Bernie was the kind of person who you felt was there for you and not the other way around. I will miss him very much. It was like hearing a close member of the family passed away today. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and friends.
Mere words seem so trivial. Because they could never express the magnitude of this loss. Bernie and Sid are the bright light that wake us up and get us through the worst parts of our day. They are both truly the light at the end our dark tunnel. When those voices echoe through the air waves each morning, you know all was right in the world. Although, I only knew Bernie through the magic of radio, I felt like he and Sid were having coffee with me in my home. Bernie had great wit, extraordinary intelligence and unwavering compassion. My deepest condolences to his family. May the wonderful memories of the way that he touched humanity with his great spirit enable to endure this difficult time. Bernie rest in peace and thank you for being the best part of my morning.
I guess Heaven needed the Cardinal. This morning the sun was finally shining until I turned on the radio to hear the sad, sad news. My condolences go out to both the McGuirk family and Bernie’s WABC family. Thank you Bernie for your dedication to the listeners; you will be missed. Rest in peace with the angels, and please pray for us down here.
Authentic people somehow make it through the airways straight to people’s hearts – an unexplainable bond is created and the pain we experience when they leave us is real – no one will fill your place Bernie – no one ever could……

Bernie thank you for being a roll model for deformation. U have and r a roll model for giving me strength for the same. U over came it and won and so can I
Dear WABC Radio Family, Brendan, Melanie, Carol and the whole McGuirk family:
Although I never met Mr. McGuirk, I along with all of you, am grieving the loss today of our precious Bernie. Bernie, along with Sid, made me laugh, cry, and a dozen other emotions. I thank his family for sharing him with a community.
Bernie rest in peace. You fought a brave fight. May your soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you. God bless you all at this time. You are at peace with your sisters and mom. God please also bless Sid. I’m sure he is devastated.
Something, something sad and terrible, finally "beat Bernie." It was like losing a family member. Bernard McGuirk meant so much to us. I could not and would not start my day without listening to Bernie, and I missed him greatly when he wasn’t there. His intelligence, his wit, his passion, his courage and strength, his patriotism and dedication to truth and justice… were admirable aspirations for us, compelling calls to actions, and immensely valuable gifts that cannot be overstated. Condolences to his wife Carol and his children Brendan and Melanie, and all others whose lives he positively impacted. May his presence endure for us all and continue to inspire us to live good, decent, meaningful and loving lives, every day. RIP Bernie, and as the Cardinal might say… "God Bless."
I first listened to Bernie when I was recuperating from knee surgery. I was hooked.
Thank you Bernie for all the laughs, the memories and the fun. I will miss your terrific sense of humor.
Condolences to Carol and your kids and father and rest of the McGuirk family.
RIP my friend, they make very few the likes of you nowadays.
Very Sad …you were the best…Have listened to you for may years.. Prayers sent for you and your family
Real sad to hear, started hearing his and Sid show few years ago, not regularly, think show informative, funny too. Did know that McGuirk born in the Bronx and grew up in the projects, think that’s why he had a real sense/ understanding of the (New York)city like Silwa, condolences to his family and friends.
RIP, Bernie. I’ve been a listener for about 10-15 years. I remember when Imus left and you and Sid took over. I loved waking up to you guys going back and forth about whatever was going on at the time. You guys informed me, made me laugh and sometimes made me shake my head in disagreement, but I still listened. You will be missed. Condolences and prayers to your family and all of your friends. 🙏🏼❤️
God bless you Bernie and may God bless your family. May the angels lead you on your journey to everlasting glory and peace. Let your family rest easy in knowing your pain is over and thank the Lord that you are free of this hell here on earth that we call life.
Rest in Peace.
There are no adequate words. This is someone who made me laugh out loud and I couldn’t wait to tell my dad or my friends what he had said in case they missed it. Met Carol and Bernie while shopping one day and he was as kind as he could be; they both were. My prayers to Bernie’s lovely family. And in his character’s words, “Good morning and God bless!”
Love you, Bernie
God Bless you Bernie
I will miss you everyday I have the radio on
Tremendous loss for the Mcguirk and Red Apple Families
Such a sad day to hear of Bernie’s passing. You and Sid have been rays of sunshine most mornings whether here in The Bronx or Florida. Thoughts and prayers go out to you, your family and WABC family. You’re sorely missed already. Rest easy, Bernie.
My goal everyday was to beat Bernie, and that happened too infrequently for my liking, as Bernie was a font of historical knowledge and had the recall to pull obscure information out of thin air. He was simply amazing to listen to. I never met him, but I feel like I knew him, as that unique awareness happens for the listeners of great radio. I’ll pray for his eternal rest in heaven, and hope to meet him one day there.
So sorry to hear of Bernie passing away. My thoughts and prays are with his wife and children…Radio has lost a great personality..May the Four Winds Blow you home…Rest in Peace Bernie…you are free…🌹
I am heartbroken over the loss of our great friend and patriot Bernard Mcguirk always looked forward to hear his Sharp analysis on the news and current events loved his sense of humor but Above all is good nature and kindness shine through RIP

I also woke up to listen to the station. I was saddened to hear that Bernie passed away as it brought tears to my eyes. Amazed by his knowledge and humor along with Syd that made the radio show great listening tool.
My prayers and sincere condolences go out to Bernie, his family, friends, and to all of you at WABC, he will be missed.
So sorry for your loss.
Thank you for being part of my ‘radio listening’ life.
Regards,
Deanna (U.C. NJ)
RIP Bernie. Condolences to the McGuirk family and all at WABC. Bernie was a great man who will be missed. In all the dire situations we and Bernie have been through, he always remained positive. I’ll miss that Bernie was always uplifting with messages like… "well these clowns will soon be out of office," "this is almost over," or "the red wave is coming." I looked to him for that. He was a true gem. Thak you for everything that you gave us.
Listening since the early 90’s after moving here from Dublin in mid 80’s, immediately recognizing his sense of humor but also loving his passion and common sense in the social and political arena. I have always felt he was Imus’s brain and am so glad he got to do his own thing with Sid and make it to number 1, well deserved. Condolences to his wife Carol, his children, father and the whole McGuirk family. Rest in peace Bernie. Never forget to remember!
God bless you Bernie, you made us laugh when everything else was crumbling all around us! You were able to say things we were unable to! I know you are in a special place happy and safe! All your friends will watch out for Carol and your children, you have a million friends. We will miss you so very much! Linda and Joe 🙏
Thank you, Bernie for being the authentic voice of truth, reason and common sense for so many years. You loved your family and you loved our beautiful country. May our good Lord keep you in His arms forever. We miss you dearly.
