For those who own Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams in their fantasy football leagues, you may want to start looking for a replacement. Williams was carted off of the field in yesterday’s 32-23 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders and put on crutches.
Williams made a cut move at about his own 24 yard line when his knee appeared to twist as Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby rode his back to the ground. Williams was then ruled questionable to return at first as he was carted off but ultimately was ruled out for the game.Â
It is suspected that Williams suffered a potentially very serious injury. He will undergo an MRI at some point today.Â
The Broncos second year back is rostered in about 99% of both Yahoo and ESPN fantasy football leagues. Although he has struggled to find the endzone through the first three games, he has certainly been the more leaned on back in that Denver offense. He led the Broncos’ in both carries and rushing yards.Â
Fantasy owners of running back Melvin Gordon may now have a new RB1 to lock into their lineups. Hopefully Williams’s knee injury isn’t a season ending one.Â
