Bill Would Outlaw Tattoo Discrimination In Workplace And In Housing

syndication-the-jackson-sun

NEW YORK (77WABC) — A City Councilman is set to introduce a bill that would make it illegal to discriminate against someone with tattoos in both the workplace and in housing decisions.

Bill sponsor Councilman Shaun Abreu says tattoos are a form of personal self-expression, but he says those who have them often face bias and discrimination in the workplace, and when trying to secure apartment rentals. His bill would prohibit employers from discriminating against someone with tattoos.

Tattoos containing hate speech would not be covered by the bill. There is no word how the new law would be enforced.
