Tornado Confirmed on Long Island

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (77WABC) — The National weather service is confirming an EF-zero tornado with estimated wind speeds of up to 85 mph touching down in Mattituck.

The tornado touched down around 11:17 p.m. Sunday night for about three minutes leaving a trail of destruction for just over 2 miles. The twister hit near Sound Avenue, knocking down trees and power lines.

No injuries were reported.

The tornado was spawned from a line of heavy thunder storms pushing eastward through Pennsylvania.
