Brooklyn, NY (77WABC)-The New York City Medical Examiner has ruled the death of a 28-year-old Brooklyn man, a resident of the Kingsboro Psychiatric Center, as a homicide.
On Tuesday, September 20th, around 11:45 pm, police from Brooklyn’s 71st Precinct responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside of the Psychiatric Center at 681 Clarkson Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 28-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, within the facility. EMS responded and transported the man to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation found the man, Shakim Devega, suffered from trauma to his neck and neck area, which caused him to become unconscious leading to his death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled Devega’s death a homicide.
Pollice say there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
