An 8-Year-Old Dead in a Fire in Queens Two Others Hurt

Queens, NY (77WABC)- Police say 8-year-old Stephanie Villa Torres was pronounced dead at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Queens following a residential fire at t 23-26 130 Street.
Police responded to a 911 call on a report of a residential fire on the 3rd floor of an apartment building on Saturday, September 17th.
When officers arrived, the found the 8-year-old unconscious and unresponsive. EMS   transported her to NY Presbyterian where she was pronounced dead.
Two other people were hurt as a result of the fire. An 18-year-old man  and a 35-year-old man were taken by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals Jacobi with smoke inhalation  and burns to their bodies. Both men are  listed in stable condition.
The Fire Marshal will determine the exact cause of the fire. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the girl’s official cause of death.
