The department released body camera footage from Tuesday’s incident, showing a woman attempting to kiss a man while he was being arrested for allegedly carrying a ghost gun. She can be seen slapping an officer as he tries to swat her away from the scene before he allegedly hits her causing her to fall to the ground.
“I think those officers on the scene showed great restraint,” Adams said. “They did what the system called for. They didn’t turn off their body cameras, that’s why we have footage of what happened. I am not going to tell police officers to go out, apprehend dangerous people, and then come later when they did what they were supposed to do and not say you protected the people of this city.”
Adams commended the officers involved, adding that the situation is under investigation.
