MLB: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets
The Mets made a statement this weekend winning four out of five vs the Atlanta Braves who are their arch-rivals. On Saturday New York swept a doubleheader from Atlanta winning 8-5 in the first game and 6-2 in the second game. Scherzer dominated in game two throwing seven scoreless innings while striking out 11 which lowered his ERA to 1.98. On Sunday it was degrom’s turn. Jake struck out 12 over 5 and ⅔ innings pitched and only gave up one hit which was the Home Run by Dansby Swanson on deGrom’s final pitch. The game was tied until the third inning when Pete Alonso drove home his 94th and 95th RBIs of the year. Alonso has continued to get better every year but this has been his best season so far in my opinion. Yes even better than his rookie season when he hit 53 Home Runs. New York now leads the NL East by 6.5 games after beating up on Atlanta this weekend. Queens finest will look to continue their winning ways against the Cincinnati Reds tonight with Chris Bassitt on the mound.
