Intern Dean Pavlou – Padres Make Blockbuster Trade For Juan Soto

phil-masturzo-usa-today-network-2

The Padres have traded for superstar outfielder Juan Soto. Soto is a 23-year-old phenom who has already won a world series. In his career so far Soto has a .291 batting average with 119 home runs and 358 RBIs over the course of his five-year career. Soto also draws a lot of walks which is another thing that makes him great at the plate. This is a huge deal for the Padres who are getting a 23-year-old superstar who’s only going to get better and I think will soon be the best player in baseball. The Padres are also getting first baseman Josh Bell in the deal as well. Bell is batting .301 with 14 Home Runs so far this season and is another player along with Soto that will give San Diego a boost. In return the Nationals got left-handed pitcher Mackenzie Gore, Outfielders Robert Hassell 111 and James Wood, Shortstop CJ Abrams, and Right Handed pitcher Jarlin Susana. This is not a bad return for the Nationals but losing Juan Soto will sting for a lot of years for Washington who will now go into a full-blown rebuild. As for San Diego, they will definitely be a force to be reckoned with this postseason right along with the Mets who lead the NL East, and the Dodgers who lead the NL West. This trade has changed the landscape of baseball and could change the outlook on who comes out of the NL.
