The New York Mets are set to get the best pitcher in baseball back In Jacob deGrom. deGrom has been out this whole season with a shoulder injury. The Mets are riding high winners of six in a row after taking care of business against the Yankees who they swept in a two-game series and then the Miami Marlins who they swept in a three-game set over the weekend. The Mets will now face the lowly Washington Nationals with Max Scherzer who is 6-2 with a 2.09 ERA this season, and Jacob deGrom who is making his season debut tomorrow night. After facing the Nationals the Mets will head home to face the Atlanta Braves in a five-game series that starts on Thursday. deGrom and Scherzer are scheduled to pitch in that series as well which will be a very important series with the division on the line for both teams. If deGrom is himself when he comes back and Scherzer continues to dominate this year I don’t know if there’s any team in a seven-game series.
