VIDEO: Suspect in Fatal Stabbing Linked to Two Other Attacks in Manhattan

NEW YORK (77WABC)  — The NYPD is looking for a serial stabber is wanted in connection with a string attacks targeting homeless New Yorkers sleeping on city benches — including an attack that killed a 34-year-old man last week.

On Tuesday July 5, a 34-year-old man, lying on a bench near 374 West 11th Street near Hudson River Park was stabbed in his upper right abdomen with a sharp object shortly after 3 in the morning. EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the stabbing suspect fled northbound on the walkway on foot. Video surveillance shows the suspect riding a Citi bike shortly after the incident on West 11th and Hudson River Park.

Three days later, on July 8 at 10 p.m. near Madison Avenue and East 49th Street,  a 59-year-old man was lying on a bench when an unknown male stabbed him in the abdomen. The injured man was taken to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

 

The latest attack was on July 11th around 3:30 in the morning inside of 95-95 FDR Drive which is the Stanley Isaac Playground. Police say a 28-year-old man was lying inside of the park when she was stabbed in the abdomen by an unknown man.  The injured man was transported to Metropolitan Hospital in stable condition.
