NEW YORK (77WABC) — As crime surges in New York City, one of Mayor Eric Adams’ aides was mugged in broad daylight Tuesday while scouting a location in Brooklyn for a planned visit by the Mayor.
The incident was confirmed by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Cats at Night hosted by 77WABC owner and operator John Catsimatidis.
The City Hall employee — 33-year-old Christopher Baugh, refused to turn over his wallet and cellphone, and was pushed to the ground. The suspects grabbed Baugh’s cell and wallet while he was on the ground and fled, with at least one man fleeing on a Citi bike.
As of June 26, major crimes across the five boroughs were up 37.8% this year compared to the same period in 2021, with robberies rising an even higher 39.4 %, according to official NYPD Compstat data.
