Stocks fall nearly 900 points–on fears of soaring inflation

NEW YORK, NEW YORK- (77WABC)- Stocks falling sharply Friday —stocks losing nearly 900 points with investors worried about the economy–and inflation with sky high prices for food and gas.

Gas is 5 dollars a gallon in New York and New Jersey, despite a gas tax holiday in New York shaving around 16 cents off the gallon of regular.

Nationwide – the price of a gallon of guess is just about touching 5 dollars a gallon.  The consumer price index says prices rose 8.6% from a year ago, the worst increase in more than 40 years.
