In the series opener against the Padres Eduardo Escobar had a night he will never forget hitting for the cycle. In the 1st inning Escobar hit a 2-run single which gave the Mets a 3-0 lead at the time. In the 4th inning Escobar lead off the inning with a double and scored on a base hit.

In the top of the 8th inning and the score 5-2 Escobar hit a deep home run into right field to put the Mets up 7-2. With the score 7-5 in the 9th inning Escobar came to the plate again looking to make history with a triple.

On a 1-2 pitch Escobar drove one deep to right field over the outstretched reach of Padres right fielder Nomar Mazara and cruising into third easily with a triple was Escobar to complete the cycle.

The Mets third baseman finished the day 4 for 5 with 6 rbi’s and the cycle. This is the 11th cycle in Mets franchise history and the first one that they’ve had in 10 years since Scott Hairston did it in 2012 against the Rockies. The Mets ended up winning this game over San Diego 11-5 improving to 38-19 on the year but this day belonged to Eduardo Escobar who has been on a tear lately and made history yesterday.
