NEW YORK (77WABC) — On Wednesday, police released surveillance video of a knife-wielding man who had allegedly threatened a former assistant deputy NYPD commissioner.
Police say the frightening incident occurred about 3:30 P.M. May 22 on a southbound 6 train at the east 77th Street and Lexington Avenue station on the Upper East Side. Police added the suspect followed his 35-year-old victim into a crowded subway car and became irate while holding a switchblade as the train left the station.
The NYPD said that when the southbound train arrived at the 68th Street/Lexington Avenue subway station, the suspect fled. The identity of the former official is being withheld because he tells The New York Post that he fears for his safety from the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Aaron Ramos, turned himself in to cops Thursday morning. Police say Ramos was charged with menacing.
