NEW YORK, NEW YORK— (77WABC) – Police say a 15-year-old boy riding on the back of a scooter in the Bronx fired a gunshot that was intended for a 13-year-old boy but instead struck an 11-year-old girl and killed her. The 15-year-old shooting suspect identified as Matthew Godwin was arrested Friday on charges including murder and manslaughter in the death of 11-year-old Kyhara Tay. The girl was shot in the stomach Monday. Chief of detectives James Essig says the 15-year-old is being charged as an adult. Police continue to look for the driver of the scooter identified as 18 year old Omar Bojang.
