NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD is asking for any information involving a drive-by shooter caught on video who fired a BB gun at a Brooklyn synagogue – and then at a teen wearing traditional Jewish attire.

It was reported to police that on Monday, May 16 around 2:50 p.m., an unknown person inside the SUV shot the BB gun at a synagogue located at 81 Spencer Street, shattering the front window of the location. The vehicle then drove past an 18-year-old who was walking on the sidewalk and wearing traditional Jewish attire before the attacker shot at him, hitting him in the neck.

The vehicle fled the scene continuing southbound on Spencer Street. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

The vehicle is described as a black SUV, possibly a mid-to-late 2000’s Ford Explorer.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
