NEW YORK (77WABC) — Police sources tell The New York Post a teenage son of an NYPD cop was shot near his high school in Queens Wednesday afternoon.
The 17-year-old was hit in the left arm and ran bleeding into Maspeth High School in Elmhurst after the 1:40 p.m. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive.
Police say the suspects fled down 74th Street on scooters and were arrested shortly after. The shooter was reportedly also a student at the school.
The incident was the latest shooting near a city school amid escalating gun violence across the five boroughs.
