NEW YORK, NEW YORK- (77WABC)- Governor Kathy Hochul says she stands committed to helping fight crime in the subways. In a news conference with the MTA on Wednesday, Hochul says she will make sure Mayor Adams has the resources to do the job, adding more police patrols on subway platforms and on the trains. The governor says she will also work to help the homeless who frequent the subways.
Mayor Adams says cops patrolling the subways while on their phone isn’t acceptable. However, PBA President Pat Lynch says ”New York City police officers did not ask for NYPD issued smartphones, we were ordered to carry and use them.” If theres’ a problem with cops using the phone on duty, NYPD management should change the policies and go back to pen and paper.”
